Based on 200 reviewsHelmer House Inn is widely praised for its charming and cozy atmosphere, set within a historic yet impeccably maintained building. The staff and owners are consistently described as warm, friendly, and attentive, contributing to a welcoming experience. The peaceful, scenic surroundings with a pond and nearby lake add to the appeal of this unique bed and breakfast. Limited operating hours are occasionally noted, encouraging visitors to plan accordingly to enjoy the full range of offerings.
Outstanding little bed and breakfast in a very old house. Despite this the rooms and common areas are VERY clean, the food is fabulous and the staff and owners are enjoyable and kind people. The included breakfast alone easily makes for a 30 dollar per night value for two against the cost of the room. The grounds are peaceful and beautiful with a pond out back and past that a gorgeous lake. Excellent central location for many adventures. Fresh baked goods and excellent sodas for sale and a great little mercantile next door for general goods. Book or dine here with confidence. We will be back.
Fantastic food and service! We only got there once for breakfast but would love to go again. Everything was fresh and handmade, including the bread and strawberry preserves too. Would love to get back for the Friday fish fry someday. I believe hours are limited to breakfast and lunch during the week.....be sure to check.
I was welcomed with kind faces and smiles as soon as I walked in even though they were quite busy. Food was fantastic (my first time having avocado toast) , service was extremely friendly and on top of that, the atmosphere is just awesome. The decor is perfect and lots of homemade goodies to look at. I think it’s the cutest coziest spot. You have to visit this place. I’ll definitely be back again.
Fantastic brunch place! We loved it.
Food was amazing. Baked goods superb (especially that hamburger bun!). Sad they are closed sunmon (we were there memorial day weekend) because we missed breakfast by about 2 minutes. Get there early to be sure their baked goods and pastries are in stock! Even their simple white bread was great! Great decor. Friendly service.
Amazing historical building that has very quaint decorations! The atmosphere and setting is amazing. We went for breakfast and the service was prompt and friendly and the food was absolutely amazing! Highly recommend. Nothing else like it anywhere nearby.
If you want to feel like you’re in a UP episode of Gilmore Girls, stay here! This is a lovely, central spot to explore many of the UP’s attractions. The rooms are cute and cozy, right above the cafe- and nothing beats waking up in the morning to the smell of bacon and cinnamon rolls! The breakfasts, included when you stay at the inn, are just amazing. The farm-fresh bacon and warm atmosphere are lovely. Kind people, cute mercantile next door, lake access, serene forested atmosphere. We visited for an anniversary trip, and I hope this will be a place we’ll continue to return to throughout our lives.
The food was delicious, I had the avocado toast and my husband had the farmers breakfast. Both big portions, and very good. We took a walk out by the water which was beautiful, there was some mosquitos but not horrible. Owners are very friendly and accommodating.
